David Lesh to Speak Amongst President George Bush and Distinguished Others

by Dave on February 1, 2010

3930269148_a29c4a9231I just want to take a moment to share with you a life changing experience I have now been invited to share with others. For my 39th birthday I decided to live a more meaningful and picture-worthy life. To do this, I would work to make sure every day was lived to the fullest and that I had at least one meaningful event in it. I would capture this event, and many other moments throughout the day, with a picture. I did this until my 40th birthday and took an astounding 9,000 photos in that single twelve month period.  There were so many exciting and highly unintended effects as a result, but I started out with only three key reasons for doing it.

  • 1) To live every day with more meaning. Carrying a camera and taking a picture would force me to create a meaningful event and have something to show for each day.
  • 2) Document a year in my life. Now that it’s complete, it has been so much fun to look back at what I was doing exactly one year ago each day. It’s neat to see how you can create a way to never forget things that are such great memories.
  • 3) Have something to leave behind to my kids and future generations. The idea that my kids and their kids and so on would have a way to look at my Year in the Life book and really get an understanding of who I am, or who I was, means a lot to me.

Anyway, the project was a huge success on all of the above points and so many other levels.  So many that have heard about the project have since started their own Picture of the Day campaign. The excitement has lead to many opportunities to present the initiative to others. Upon hearing of the project, I have been asked to speak at a CEO gathering at MIT, a roundtable of business executives, churches and most recently in front of an entrepreneurial organization called EO, or perhaps more commonly known as YEO.

The upcoming EO lineup is impressive with many authors, motivational speakers and other people of interest. Amongst the list is President George W. Bush as the keynote to kick things off. It’s a thrill to see my name, picture and program summary listed just two below his. I have copied it below. I have also been asked if others can attend any of the events where I am scheduled to speak, and the unfortunate answer is no as they are all member-only events. I do hope to get out and spread the message at large motivational meetings, corporate events and community get-togethers throughout the country and the world.

Here’s the schedule of events:

Bush Foundation and 43rd President of the United States will share his leadership journey and give EO members a special understanding of the lessons, challenges and opportunities of leadership on the global scale.
