Since January 2000, Dale Dental has been exclusively serving dental labs providing them with the high tech and in-demand restorations they want and need. Part of the promise at Dale is not only to provide dental labs with the highest quality and fastest turnaround time, but also the fastest time to market with new products. That means Dale Dental customers are always assured of being among the world’s very first to offer the industries lasted restorations to their dentists customers.
Straumann, or Etkon as it has been known in the past, is no exception to that promise and Dale Dental customers have been using Dale Dental for Etkon and Straumann products since the very first Etkon ES1 scanner hit the US market in 2005. In fact, I can still vividly remember attending the IDS dental show in Germany and stopping to learn about Etkon restorations at their booth before they ever came to the US marketplace. The lifelike Indy racecar driving simulator was the other big attraction at the Etkon booth that year, so squeezing in to learn more about their dental restorations was not easy.
Dale Dental became the first in the US to offer what are now Straumann restorations, and I had offered early praise for the system saying “at the time, they were among the best fits over the longest spans for zirconia that I had seen.” Since then Etkon was purchased by Straumann, and I believe Straumann has done a great job taking the system up several notches in the software, capabilities, indications and manufacturing machinery used.
Today, Dale Dental uses the Straumann CADCAM system to provide dental labs with 100% genuine Straumann CADCAM custom abutments and matching screws that feature the genuine Straumann implant interfaces. We offer the full line of both bone-level and tissue-level custom abutments and in both zirconia and titanium materials.
I will have another blog post shortly about the uniquely designed Straumann abutment interface and why competitor “knock off” abutment company’s compatibility claims can be somewhat misleading. In the meantime, there is more information on our Straumann product page at the Dale Dental website, or at www.RealStraumann.com.
In addition to the Straumann custom abutments, labs can use Dale Dental for the full spectrum of Straumann restorations including their Zerion zirconia, Ticon titanium, resin materials and Ivoclar’s e.max CAD. Labs using Dale Dental can have these restorations made with the abutments and returned together with the case. In addition to being made for custom abutments, all of these restorations are available for conventional crown and bridge preps directly from our lab customers models.
For the first time, and beginning in July, Dale Dental customers will have the option to send their implant model to Dale instead of an abutment waxup. Dale will scan the model, design the implant abutments by CAD design and send the images to the lab for approval before milling. For the greatest convienience and highest quality, customers will also be able to send their impression directly to Dale Dental. Dale will make the soft tissue implant model using 100% genuine Straumann fixture replicas and return the model, abutments and chosen restorations all together.
When sending impressions, labs have the option to allow their dentist to send the case directly to Dale Dental. Dale Dental will receive the case from the dentist, manufacture the model, abutments and any restorations requested and return all the restorations to the dental lab for final completion and delivery to the dentist.
To do this, the lab simply first enters the case online using the Dale Dental Online Case Entry tool at https://portal.daledental.com/OCE/. Once entered, the lab simply clicks the option to print an air bill and email that air bill to the dentist for their use to send the case via overnight FedEx to Dale.
The pre-assigned case(s) numbers are already in the Dale system and on the FedEx inbound air bill and no other reference information is required. Using this reference information, Dale can locate the case entry information provided by the lab, enter and manufacture the case(s). Please note, Dale Dental is accepting the impressions directly from the dentist as a matter of convenience and time savings for our dental lab customer. The dental lab remains the only contact person for information regarding the case and all billing and other administration is done solely through, and between, Dale and the dental laboratory.

Do you guys work with iTero and the Straumann scanning jigs? I wonder how long its going to be until they can mill analogs into the models and give soft tissue models. That would be the end of goop and stone error!
